Best Buy Credit Card No Credit !FREE!

Most card issuers in the United States will request credit card applicants to provide a Social Security number (SSN). This helps credit card companies prevent fraud and protects the general public from identity theft. This requirement is not universal for all cards, however. For those who do not qualify for a Social Security card or number, there are still options for opening a U.S. credit card account.

In this article, we outline the top card options available from issuers not requiring a SSN to apply. Alternative forms of ID will be requested in the application process, but these offerings provide solutions for those who want to take advantage of the security features of a credit card, to build credit history or to earn rewards on spending.

A great option for those with less-than-stellar credit, this card offers a gateway to building better credit while earning a respectable 1.5% cash back rewards rate. You may also gain a higher credit line in as little as 6 months from account opening.

For international students or students without a credit history, the Deserve EDU Mastercard is a compelling option with no annual fee and a flat 1% cash back reward. However, for those with a solid credit history, better student cards are out there.

Other Benefits and Drawbacks: The Bank of America Travel Rewards card offers a see terms introductory APR for 18 billing cycles for purchases, and for any balance transfers made in the first 60 days, followed by a see terms variable APR on purchases and balance transfers. A 3% fee applies to all balance transfers.

Other Benefits and Drawbacks: A solid card for students, including U.S. citizens, the card offers strong benefits and rewards even for those without a credit history. For no annual fee, cardholders earn 1% cash back on all purchases. The card also comes with one free year of Amazon Prime and no foreign transaction fees.

With a $0 annual fee, no foreign transaction fee and deposits less than the secured line of credit, the Capital One Platinum Secured Credit Card certainly falls short of better secured cards on the market, but its issuer may approve you for a card without requiring your social security number.

The best cards with applications lacking a strict Social Security number requirement were chosen based on welcome bonuses, fees, rewards and other perks. What is best for the majority of consumers, however, might not be right for you. Conduct informed research before deciding which cards will best help you achieve your financial goals.

The U.S. Social Security database is one of the most efficient and secure resources banks can use to verify client identity and personal information. The U.S. Patriot Act of 2001 holds each bank responsible for the individual accounts it opens and provides tools for the tracking of illegal activity such as money laundering or for the identification of potential terrorist threats. For this reason most banks and credit card companies prefer and almost always require a valid Social Security number.

If an applicant does not qualify for a SSN, another form of ID is required to verify personal information. Alternatives for proof of identification vary depending on the card issuer and the type of card requested. Though a SSN is not required to have a credit file with the credit bureaus, many banks use Social Security numbers to run credit checks before approving card applications.

The two most popular card issuers for applicants without an SSN are American Express and Citibank. These issuers also both offer cards outside the U.S. and if you have an open account with either issuer in another country, your foreign credit activity will be considered.

For existing American Express customers, the American Express Global Card Relationship program is a great option for discovering new credit cards. You can access information on available cards simply by logging into your active international Amex account. To qualify for the program you will need to provide the number for your existing international account. This account must be in good standing and have been active for at least three months prior to submitting an application for a new U.S. card.

While Citibank does not have an online card application for its existing customers, it is possible to call the bank directly and request any current account history be linked to an application for a new card. With good history, this should make your application stronger as it helps the bank verify your identity and evaluate your current level of assets and credit history. Calling or applying at a branch in person makes sense particularly for existing Citibank members with a foreign account, though your level of assets and credit history will likely need to be substantial and well-established to qualify you for the Global Banking program.

Capital One will also accept an ITIN as an alternative ID on its online card applications. For those applying for a first credit card or with a fair or limited credit history, the bank has a few starter card options as well. A great card for this is the Capital One Platinum Credit Card. Most new applicants will receive only a small credit line to start, but can qualify for a credit increase after as few as six months of on-time payments. The Capital One QuicksilverOne Cash Rewards Credit Card has an annual fee, but offers cash rewards for eligible applicants with average credit or above.

Chase is another bank that accepts card applications online with an ITIN, though it may be more difficult to qualify with fair or limited credit history as Chase requires a good credit score for most card applications.

Unfortunately, Discover and Barclays are two widely used companies not accepting card applications without a Social Security number. If you have a card issuer in mind but are unsure about their policy regarding SSN identification, we recommend calling a branch directly to find out more before applying for a card online.

The most common alternative to providing a Social Security number is to use an ITIN, or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number, instead. Most credit card issuers accepting card applications without SSNs will request this as an alternative, along with other documentation required to verify the identity of an applicant.

Even though many card issuers will process an application using a valid ITIN, it is likely you will need to provide further identifying information. Be prepared to show a copy of your passport and/or U.S. visa if you have one. Some banks may also require that you already have some kind of relationship with them before applying for a credit card, such as holding an existing checking or savings account.

The most common solution to applying for a Business Credit Card without an SSN is to apply for an EIN, or Employer Identification Number. Much like the ITIN, this number is issued by the IRS for tax purposes. You as an individual will more than likely first need an ITIN or SSN to then acquire an EIN for your business. Once you have a valid EIN and can add it to your credit card application, you are much more likely to qualify for a business account. Substantial business credit or assets and income will likely be required for a reward-earning or benefit-packed account.

Simply by obtaining a credit card, whether you used a Social Security number or not, you begin to build credit. The key is managing credit payments in a responsible way by always paying on time in full and not exceeding a credit utilization ratio of about 30% across all accounts.

Other types of loans also build credit, so a credit card is not required to build credit. Mortgages, car loans and any other type of loan from an issuer who reports payments to the three credit bureaus will work to help build credit.

Maybe. There is no global standard or system for credit reporting, so your credit score history will likely only exist in the country where you originally built it. That said, when applying for a new credit card in the U.S., you can request a credit card issuer or bank of choice refer to your international score history while assessing your eligibility to start building credit within the U.S.. Call an issuer to ask about specifics regarding your ability to be considered based on a foreign credit report.
