Buy Cheap String Lights

These JMEXSUSS LED Indoor Outdoor String Lights are designed to look like old-school string lights, but they have energy-saving LEDs instead of incandescent bulbs. They stay cool to the touch no matter how long they're on, and they're safe for both indoor and outdoor use. Unlike many string lights, this strand has about 10 feet of lead wire, so you're less likely to need an extension cord to reach an outlet. (The portion of the strand that has lights is just under 33 feet long.)

The lights have have eight different modes to choose from, including twinkle, wave, and steady on. In addition to a warm white color, you can find the string lights in blue, multicolor, and a cooler white to suite all your aesthetic needs.

If you're looking for cheap rope light with many different settings, try these YoungPower Battery Operated LED Rope Lights. The warm white LED lights have eight modes, ranging from steady on to flashing, and 10 brightness levels. You can bend and shape the strand to your desired shape. It comes with a remote control that allows you to operate it from up to 16.4 feet away, and it also has timer functionality with auto shut-off.

The YoungPower LED Rope Lights come with a one-year warranty and are available in a colorful version too. It's important to note that the battery case isn't completely waterproof, which means these lights aren't ideal to use in wet weather. Should you need a weatherproof option for outdoor decorations, try these Areful LED Rope Lights or the solar-powered option below.

Solar-powered lights are generally more expensive than other types of string lights, but these JosMega Upgraded Solar Powered String Rope Lights are very reasonably priced, and you won't need to spend money powering them through an outlet or batteries. Instead, they come with a built-in solar-powered rechargeable battery. Depending on the amount of sunlight available, the battery can fully charge in as little as four hours and last up to 12 hours.

Looking to add some light to your backyard, patio, or deck? Consider snagging these indoor/outdoor SkrLights Globe String Lights. Large, eye-catching globe lights tend to cost a few more bucks than smaller, more basic string lights, but they're well worth the price. These incandescent bulbs are waterproof and weatherproof, and they feature convenient hooks to hang them. If you need to cover more distance than 25 feet, you can safely connect up to three strands together, or you can opt for the 50 or 100-foot versions. You don't have to worry about all of the bulbs turning off if one light burns out, and the manufacturer includes a spare fuse and two spare bulbs, just in case you need to replace any of them. These globe string lights are available with white, black, or brown wire, and you can opt for LED bulbs instead of incandescent if you'd prefer.

With wire made of a lacquer-coated copper and tiny lights integrated throughout, Ehome's LED Starry Fairy String Light are dainty, sweet, and easy on the wallet. The thin wire is flexible and bendable, and it all but disappears when it's dark out and the lights are on .

These lights come with a two-year warranty and are available in three colors and either a 33- or 66-foot length. Interestingly, this set of lights plugs into a USB port rather than directly into a standard outlet or batteries, so you'll need to have a phone charger or other USB adapter on hand. The manufacturer says that the wire is appropriate for both indoor and outdoor use.

Unlike standard string lights, these dimmable LE LED Strip Lights can be cut to size and are backed with 3M tape. Tape lights are ideal for under-cabinet lighting or other places where you might need extra light but would like to discreetly hide away the light strip itself. Simply measure how long of a strand you need, cut it to the appropriate length, peel the backing off, and stick the strip wherever you need some extra light. The lights come with a power adapter that you plug into a standard outlet.

If you're looking to decorate an interior wall, outdoor patio, or event space with a backdrop of lights, look no further than Magictec's LED Curtain String Light. These string lights have multiple vertically hanging strands to create a literal curtain of light. The strands are waterproof and the LED lights won't overheat. They have eight different lighting modes that you activate with just one button. Plus, they come with a money-back guarantee.

The GE lights have sold out quickly the past few years, so if that happens again, we recommend the Christmas Designers T5 Smooth LED Christmas Lights (available in warm white, multicolor, or solid color). In our tests the multicolor lights looked as good as those from GE, while the warm white lights had a cooler tone that was a little further from the coziness of an incandescent.

Overall, we found that the wire quality has a lot to do with the success of a strand of lights. Some of the tested lights had tidy, close-knit strands of wire, while others were loose and messy. Some wires needed untwisting before use, like an old phone cord, and still others continued to accordion back on themselves no matter how we tried to stretch them out and lay them flat.

If by some chance the Christmas Lights Etc outdoor lights are unavailable, Christmas Designers sells nearly identical strands of 5 mm wide-angle bulbs in white, multicolor, or solid single colors that are a little dimmer but otherwise just as good.

We tested several white and multicolor sets from Home Accents Holiday, which Home Depot carries exclusively. The incandescent lights were fine but ultimately failed our durability test, leaving a large chunk of the string unlit after we submerged them in water overnight. The standard Home Accents LED Lights produced a nauseating flicker, especially when they moved. The Home Accents Holiday Smooth Mini Super Bright Constant On lights, discontinued as of 2020, glared painfully. Overall, the construction and wiring on all of these lights was sloppy and shoddy, and they just looked bad.

The box that the tested Brite Star lights came in goes a little lower, giving a number of 600 lights for an 8-foot tree (or 75 per foot). And this lighting calculator from Christmas Light Source indicates that 250 to 400 mini lights will light an 8-foot tree.

You have a couple of different ways to apply lights, but one method in particular gets a lot of praise. It involves putting the lights on from bottom to top, doing so vertically, going in and out as you move up. This technique puts the lights deep in the tree and creates depth and a warm interior. You can find more information from Real Simple. (If that approach sounds too radical, you can just do it the traditional way by circling the tree, working from bottom to top.)

These lights come in a range of styles, bulb types, and colors. To pinpoint which ones light up the night, we selected a variety of the most popular models, testing them in multiple weather conditions, noting their durability, ease of installation, and whether they were made from quality materials.

If the string lights were billed as shatterproof, we dropped them on a concrete patio from head height to see if they would crack. For the ones advertised as being waterproof, we left them out in a rainstorm or (for those under the umbrella and covered patio) sprayed them with water. Then, we tested them again after they dried. We noted the length of the cord, the number of bulb sockets, and how easy it was to hang them on a structure.

A simple strand of string lights can transform a plain backyard into an inviting outdoor space. Compared with many other types of outdoor and patio lights, string lights are among the most affordable and easiest to install. When choosing the best string lights for your space, consider the light type, the size and shape, brightness, and color. A weather-resistant design, a lengthy cord, and remote or app control features can make outdoor string lights safer and easier to use.

Most outdoor string lights feature LED, incandescent, solar, or battery-operated bulbs. Each type varies in durability, energy efficiency, and lifespan. When shopping for outdoor string lights, consider which type of lighting is most suitable for the space.

String light bulbs are available in a variety of styles and shapes, which can give the strands a unique aesthetic. For example, tiny circle fairy lights make an outdoor area feel whimsical, while larger oval-shaped Edison bulbs add a vintage look. Globe bulbs, Edison bulbs, lantern bulbs, fairy lights, and rope lights are among the most popular styles.

Keep in mind that bulb size can affect installation. String lights with small bulbs are generally lightweight and easier to maneuver. They may be easier to install than string lights with larger, heavier, and bulkier bulbs.

Patio string lights can outline garden borders, wrap around banisters and trees, or suspend over seating spaces. The best way to determine the necessary wire length is to use a piece of twine to measure where the lights will go. Make sure to include enough length to reach the outlet if it requires corded power, or keep an extension cord handy.

For lining one side of an average balcony or small porch, a 10-foot string of outdoor patio lights may do the trick. A small 6-by-8-foot patio space typically requires 25 to 50 feet of string lighting. A medium 12-by-12-foot outdoor space may need 50 to 100 feet of string lighting, depending on the desired layout. For more spacious areas or to illuminate a large event, more than 100 feet of string lighting is usually necessary. 041b061a72
